Renal disease and anaesthesia are often considered incompatible. However, many of our geriatric veterinary patients with renal disease need anaesthesia for pain relieving procedures. We will discuss practical methods to optimise anaesthetic outcomes for these patients.

About the event

Renal disease is a common comorbidity of geriatric feline patients. Concern for the exacerbation of renal disease is one of the most common reasons for vets to avoid anaesthesia in these patients. However, pain releiving procedures may be essentail to maintain the patient's quality of life. We will discuss how we can best manage patient with renal disease, from the preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative period.
